Behind the Images: Bringing the Universe Down to Earth (in 2D & 3D)

April 16 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm

Take a behind-the-scenes tour of the colorful, multiwavelength Universe. With data from telescopes such as NASA’s Chandra X-ray Observatory, which in 2019 celebrates 20 years of operations in space, we’ll take a look at what goes into bringing the kaleidoscope of data from thousands, millions or billions of light years away, down to us, here on Earth in 2D and 3D forms.
Participants will have the chance to handle 3D prints of some of the objects from the session, as well as play virtual reality applications of exploding stars or views from the supermassive black hole at the center of our Milky Way galaxy.
